Exterior surface restoration across Nottingham, Derby and nearby areas. RMS combines professional cleaning with practical repairs to help restore tired patios, driveways, walls, paving and masonry rather than treating every job as a basic pressure wash.
Cleaning can reveal failed pointing, loose slabs, sunken blocks, damaged bricks and worn joints. With more than 25 years of building and landscaping knowledge plus 11 years of exterior-cleaning experience, RMS can identify what needs cleaning, what needs repairing and the correct order for the work.
More Than Exterior Cleaning
A surface may look dirty because of algae and weathering, but its condition can also be affected by movement, water, failing joints or old coatings. We assess the whole area before recommending a restoration plan.
Patio cleaning and joint restoration
Patios can be cleaned and assessed for defective pointing, loose paving, sunken areas and damaged edges. Repointing, isolated lifting and re-laying, and sealing can be quoted where appropriate.
Driveway cleaning, re-sanding and repairs
Block-paved driveways may require re-sanding after cleaning. Where blocks have moved or sunk, small areas can be assessed for lifting, levelling and re-laying before optional sealing is considered.
Wall and masonry restoration
Brick and stone surfaces are inspected for failed mortar, damaged units, loose copings and signs that cleaning alone would be unsuitable. Repointing and isolated repairs can be included as separately described work.
Our Restoration Process
- Inspection: We assess the material, contamination, joints, levels, drainage and existing damage.
- Priorities: We explain which repairs should happen before cleaning and which follow afterwards.
- Cleaning: A suitable method is used for the surface and condition.
- Repairs: Agreed pointing, paving, brick or coping repairs are completed.
- Finishing: Re-sanding or sealing is completed when included and conditions are suitable.
- Final check: We inspect the work and provide practical aftercare guidance.

When Cleaning Alone Is Not Enough
High pressure cannot correct structural movement, failed foundations, widespread paving collapse or serious damp problems. When a defect requires larger building work, we explain this rather than hiding it beneath a cosmetic clean. Any additional repairs are discussed and quoted before work proceeds.

Exterior Restoration Questions
Can you clean and repair in one quotation?
Yes. The quotation can identify the cleaning, jointing, re-sanding, sealing and repair elements so the agreed scope is clear.
Do all surfaces need sealing?
No. Sealing is optional and must suit the material, its condition and the required finish. The surface also needs correct preparation and suitable drying conditions.
Can you fix a few loose slabs?
Often, yes. Small paving repairs can be assessed alongside cleaning, subject to access, condition and matching-material availability.
